SHORT COMPANY PROFILE OF ONOMA S.A. (Esave. gr)

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

“Onoma SA” was established in Athens-Greece in 1992.  The initial activity of the company was related to the retail sale of consumer electronics, audio – video, telecom and office automation products, in a small shop at the northern suburbs of Athens. The range of products sold at that time, included items such as mobile phones and accessories, telephone sets, small fax machines, small printers and photocopiers, monitors, office consumables, etc.

Progressively -after 1999- the company started selling more sophisticated products such as Pabx’s, Business Networking Equipment, Gsm Gateways, Networks for Data, Voice & Video Transmission, Software for Call Data Acquisition & Processing, Video Conference and Video Monitoring Systems, Voice Mail Systems, Computer Telephony Integrated Systems, etc., thus changing –progressively- the profile of its customers and the corresponding approach from B2C to B2B. The brands that were distributed and supported were the ones of Panasonic, NEC (Nitsuko), Motorola, Siemens, Alcatel, Netgear, Tandberg, Its etc. At the same time the company’s characteristic role changed from Simple Retailer to Value Added Reseller, because more specialized services -such as installation, programming, maintenance, etc.- were added to the sole “Box Moving”. Nine years later during the year 2008, considering the big experience that has been accumulated during the past period in the trading of these products, as well as in the implementation of “turn-key” solutions, the company started moving towards its next scheduled stage of development. This movement was designed to be related more to the specialized supported distribution of the above products to big clients and to regional resellers and less to the sole end user retail approach, as it was the case until that time. The initial results were more than encouraging and in this way a network of resellers-distributors for the above products started being progressively built. The economic crisis that begun during the end of that year, did not offer the projected development of this value added distribution activity. Therefore the company concentrated –once again- its efforts on the “traditional business” of supplying and supporting telecommunication and data systems.

Later on, during the year 2009, considering the fact that the Telecommunication and Office Automation fields were –obviously- more than “saturated”, with very few expansion and development possibilities because of the Greek crisis, a strategic decision was taken by the Board of Directors: The one of –progressively – reorienting the activities of the company towards the field of Energy Related Products and Services, by using the already existing clientele (both retail and wholesale) in order to quickly penetrate the -  “about to be born” - market. In this way the company started sourcing, negotiating, buying and including in its range, technologically advanced “green” electronic products such as new gen smart lamps, smart electric stripes, smart adaptors for fluorescent lamps etc. For this reason a new entity was created within the company under the name of e-save (www.e-save.gr ), which is scheduled to become an independent company, in the coming future. On the other side, following the change (06/2010) of the Greek legal frame regarding the new “feed-in” tariffs for electricity produced by renewable sources, the company started being active in this field as well.

We definitely believe that in the coming years, these new energy products and services as well as these new markets are going to form the backbone of our future turnover. This is the reason that gives us the motivation to invest in them at this time, despite the difficult economic situation that we are actually experiencing, in our country.
